I've never really been much of a 'girly-girl', always preferring jeans over skirts, but recently I've been finding that I've been eyeing up and purchasing more dresses than I'd probably like to admit. Is this the work of Instagram influencers working their magic? Most probably, but I've been enjoying trying out girlier fits and I'll probably carry on doing so with the spring on it's way in Australia. When it comes to clothes, I'll always prefer a non-fussy, easy outfit and that's exactly why I love the wrap dress so much! It's fun, it's flirty and it's fuss free, and ever since Realisation Par brought out their now Instagram iconic polka dot version in 2017, it's fashionable!
Now as a student, I definitely do not have the budget for that dress, so I was pleasantly surprised by this lovely one from ASOS (which they also have as a maternity fit). It's a lovely light-weight fabric and the star print is really fun but isn't garish thanks to the monochrome colour palette. I love the length- though I did find I PROBABLY should've pinned down the corner as I wasn't too up for a 'marylin moment' thanks to a combination of the wind and the lightweight fabric.
The thing I'd been particularly picky on when it came to wrap dresses was ruffles: I didn't want ones that were too extravagant and I wanted them to sit well. I love how there are slight ruffles on the hem of the dress and the neckline as they keep the dress more 'youthful'.
As the print was already pretty loud, I finished the outfit with some plain old black sock boots and a gold necklace. I love that the dress could be dressed up like how I've worn it here, or more dressed down with some plain white sneakers and a baker boy cap.
So if you're feeling like you're wanting to test out your girlier side, I'd definitely suggest trying out a fun printed wrap dress like this one! Let me know in the comments if you think you'll be trying a wrap dress- until the next time x
